Medical Compassion DTS

January 20 @ 8:00 am - July 20 @ 5:00 pm

Medical Compassion DTS

If you want to get basic skills in medical missions, or use your medical skills for God this is your DTS!

In Matthew 25, Jesus said that whatever care you’ve expressed to the least of humanity you have given to me. The Medical Compassion DTS is for those who have a heart of COMPASSION for showing God’s love to people through serving and caring for those in need. It teaches basic healthcare skills in medical missions, and then gives the opportunity to REACH OUT IN COMPASSION to those hurting both medically and spiritually. We welcome the skilled and unskilled, medical professionals, students taking a gap year from medical studies, taking time to focus on God, or those who just want to try it out! If you have a heart for mercy and for those who suffer, apply now for the Medical Compassion DTS!

Stay in New Zealand a little longer and do our Medical Compassion DTS PLUS program! Completion of the Medical Compassion DTS opens a door to our Second Level School of Primary Health Care.

The first 3 months of DTS involve weekly lectures and regular times of worship and intercession, giving you the chance to encounter the living God more and more. Additionally, the Medical Compassion DTS Stream will meet weekly to learn Basic Skills for Medical Missions as to be equipped with both general medical skills and skills in compassion, so they can participate in various clinics and/or demonstrate COMPASSION with medical knowledge and practice. At graduation all students will receive a certificate for having completed a course in Basic Skills for Medical Missions.

Subject may include: Antenatal and Childbirth, Paediatrics, Patient Assessment, Chronic Diseases (Hypertension and Diabetes), Hygiene/Infection Control, Skin Infections, Wound Care, Health Education, Tropical Diseases, Common Dental Conditions, Oral Rehydration, Common Eye Conditions, and Nutrition. Qualified healthcare professionals will teach the course, which is designed to give non-professionals basic medical skills* that can be used on outreach. As part of the DTS, students will become first-aid certified, and also receive a certificate for completion of Basic Skills in Medical Missions.

*Please Note: Basic Skills for Medical Mission does not replace a degree in Medicine, Nursing, or EMT training.
